i think that the texas d would completly shut down the offense and the trojan defense sucks this year

USC is the most overrated team I have ever seen and the whole pac-10 is a joke.

I dont see any defense, especially Texas, shutting down Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart. I despise USC as much as the next guy, but lets be realistic about it. You might can shut down one or the other, but you arent going shut down both of them.

the youngest clausen brother is supposed to be the next payton manning.

You don't have to tell the boys in Blacksburg anything. This is the 2nd offer to get a game a BMS between UT and VT. The first games payout would have been 3.5 million each and UT wouldn't play even after Beamer agreed to use it as a Tech home game. Now the offer is 20 mil and I don't see UT running to the table. Sounds like you're looking the wrong way for the one that's ducking a game. Better tell those boys in Knoxville to accept Carriers challenge. There's never been a challenge from Knoxville in this instance.

USC hasn't seen a defense as good as tech's yet with speed up front and the secondary to match. usc is lacking on defense they win most of their games just outscoring people in the last minute when a team is playing a prevent, which is just perfect for leinhart to set back and wait for someone to get open. If they were so awesome they wouldn't have to win 3-5 games a year this way.

I agree that VT's defense would give USC hell, I think Adibi would be Reggie Bush's worst nigtmare, he is the only defensive player in the country that Ive seen who could match Bush's athletic ability. My point is that until USC gets knocked off, they are the #1 team in the nation in my eyes.

that's the reason tech was winning after the first half against usc last year...then adibi tore his bicep and bush went nuts

Adibi's run stopping ability is still somewhat of a downfall in my opinion. If he gains 15-20 pounds he will be unstoppable. I havent seen a better athlete on the defensive side of the ball this season however.

i think that's more of a product of having a great front 4...they get a good pass rush and can stuff the run with hall so they let adibi cover guys in the slot and backs out of the backfield, so he isnt around the LOS too much, unless it's on delayed and zone blitzes

If he goes pro he might not have the advantage of the best front 4 in football. He might not have that advantage next year with guys like Tapp out of the picture. Like I said, he needs to gain about 15-20 pounds. Right now he doesnt take on blockers very well because he is slightly undersized.

next year theyll just slide ellis over and let burchette man the other DE spot and won't lose much...IMO Jim Davis was a bigger loss than Tapp will be next year...and also IMO jonathan lewis will be our biggest loss out of anyone next year

With all those guys gone it means it will free a big boy up on the opponents o-line to get into his face and without gainng some size he will not be able to take on those blocks and stop the run. Again with half the d-line gone, thats exactly what teams are going to try and do to Tech next year, run right at them. With 15 added pounds it wont matter what teams try to do to him, they wont be able to stop him. But right now he is vulnerable to a good hard-nosed running game IMO.

i agree with you about the weight...however, teams will be doubling ellis next year once he gets in the weight room too...he has only begun to scratch his potential...im gonna go ahead and call it and say he will be the best DE ever at VT not named bruce

Bottom Line is that if UT and VT lined up on a neutral site in 2005, VT would win handlely. Peyton manning isn't your QB anymore, Reggie White isn't on D, Jamal Lewis doesn't tote the mail anymore. UT has athletes all over the field, but their offensive scheme is terrible they can'teven line up and run the ball for 3 yards on first down consistantly. That's not bashing thats just the truth.

I dont think I would go that far out on a limb, he is very good though. Very Javon Kearse like.

kearse was a lot bigger, but ellis can beat pretty much anyone off the corner...he's got 2 more years left so he very well could get to that level

He is about the same height as Kearse... 6'4 or 6'5. Not as beffy though.

sorry...that's what i meant...not as bulky, not as big weight-wise...yeah ellis is every bit of 6'5 and looks very fluid running too...burchette is a very good end as well

next year will depend on carlton powell being the bell cow like lewis is this year

Tennessee sent Bruton Smith a letter in approval of the game at BMS. They're working on getting some things moved around on their future schedule. Smith said that a little over a month ago on John Boy and Billy.

i know that Tech and another unnamed big school are going to have a joint press conference sometime soon to release a home and home series, maybe this is the UT announcement?? that would be great
